I bought these pens specifically for drawing because they were advertised as fine needle point and because the ink is waterproof when dry. The ink is waterproof when dry, as advertised.

The ink spreads and bleeds quite a bit if you write or draw on cheaper paper and shows through to the reverse side. The ink does not bleed or spread as much with premium paper, but it still bleeds and spreads. Be prepared with tissues to wipe off the points as these pens develop blobs of ink around the circumference of the point. All colors bleed, spread, and blob.

The line is not anywhere near fine; rather, it is a fat medium even when using premium paper. Small or tiny circles are impossible with these pens. So, fine, delicate line-work is out of the question. I do quite a bit of Gregg Shorthand journaling, and these pens cannot be used to scribe Gregg.

If you are looking for colorful pens for writing shopping lists, these pens will serve you well.

However, if you are looking for pens for pen and ink drawing, you may want to spend your money elsewhere. If you do buy, keep in mind that the ink line is quite thick (fat medium), spreads, bleeds, and blobs. I do not recommend them for artwork at all.

If you are like me and want to buy a pen for the waterproof aspect, I can assure you that these pens are really the perfect purchase.
See pictures below. I compared “in amount of time”, the two pens I bought lately : This UNI-BALL pen and a PILOT pen.
Has you can see, after only a couple of minutes, it is almost perfectly waterproof !
As for the Pilot one, it is still reacting to water, even a week later.
Though I love both pens for the easy writing they offer I do prefer the Uni-Ball’s ones.

I don’t know what impelled me, at age 72, with a drawer full of artist pencils, architect pens, sharpies, ball point, gel point or whatever, to buy these, but buy them I did. Now I have them in all the colors and stuff I write looks like it is the handiwork of a 6 year old Disney Princess, not an aged curmudgeon. I love these pens. My grocery lists are minor works of decorative art. The point is perfectly sharp, line width is constant, color vivid. The only thing I have noticed that might be a negative is that on certain kinds of paper there is bleed, so if you are worried about seeing what you wrote bleeding through to the verso, it’s best to test. I really like these pens.

I’ve been buying uni-ball Vision Needle Rollerball pens for years, so when I saw the Prime deal I was compelled to buy more. I love the many vibrant colors and how smoothly the pens write. They are long lasting too. I’ve never had one of these pens dry up.

I use these pens for everyday writing tasks. Despite the word “needle” in the name these are not ultra fine writing instruments for technical work like, for example, Sakura Pigma Micron pens. The rollerball ink will bleed on some types of paper, but works just fine on most tags, notepads, cards, and writing papers.

I really like the ink flow of these pens, but even though they’re Fine they’re thicker than I’d like. I’ve attached a picture to show the thickness using this pen vs the Uniball 207 Micro which is my favorite pen. I am very picky about my pens and love when I find a great one! Still a great pen just can’t use it to write small.

I’m an artist and I use these for fine-lining my drawings. These also have a nice feel to them when you just write with them. The ink-flow is very good, at times it goes quite fast as if it’s leaking, but I enjoy that since I really like a lot of ink to flow. I personally think that these take a while to dry, so it’s easy to smudge them, which I don’t like. Otherwise I hove these pens a lot.

  8. Brooke (This is a real review, I promise!)

These are my absolute favorite pens. I usually buy them at Staples or someplace like that, but I found these for a better price.

Unfortunately, they seemed to run out of ink a lot faster. I don’t know why. They worked decently, but there was a noticeable quality difference. Probably won’t buy online again.

We’ve been using these for years and hope the manufacturer doesn’t change anything. The tip is perfect, the flow perfect, the grasp while writing is perfect. They write so comfortably one doesn’t even think about how nicely they write. Yup! We really like them but I guess you can tell that!

A while ago, a pen like this landed in my hands and I used to write in my journal. It was so comfortable to use and because of the micro-thin point, it allowed me to write more in small pages. So I decided to get a box of these exclusively to write in my journal.
I always carry one attached to my journal to write whenever I need to, and another as a backup for the moment the main one runs out of ink.
These pens have great colour and great quality. I really love using these, and I definitely see myself buying another box when I run out of pens.

I purchased these for work as I like to use a lot of colors to help keep me organized. The color options are nice, but the tip isn’t as small as you would expect of something with ‘fine’ and ‘needle’ in their title.

As you can see in the video, the result is wide. The paper I was writing on was soft and thin, but even when I used a thicker paper the words came out heavy.

I’m ok with it. I just thought I’d show other potential buyers what you are in for with these pens. I would say they are very similar in width and thickness as the Sharpie fine point markers.

If you want a ‘needle’ tipped pack of color pens, I suggest –

Sharpie Pen Fine Point Pen, Colored Pens (1742662)

. They come in packs of colors in 4, 6, or 12. That is an ultra fine product.

I’ve used the uni-ball vision pens before but wasn’t sure if these were an upgraded version or new colours that had been added. These pens have vibrant ink shades that dry fairly quickly and write smoothly while being easily held. The caps have to be closed fairly hard to ensure they secure so ink doesn’t run wherever you are storing them. I gave 4 stars because the packaging looked yellowed and a bit rough when I got them and as far the quality they aren’t on par with the Pentel Energel pens but are superior to the average ball point pen.

These pens are phenomenal. For me, there’s no organizational joy quite like color-coding, and with these pens I can up my productivity by keeping my work notes and to-do lists organized by color.

The included colors are black, dark blue, slightly lighter blue, purple, magenta, red, orange, and green (see my image for all the pens and the colors they produce).

All 8 colors are different (although the 2 blues are difficult to distinguish for me at a glance). And most importantly, they ALL write smoothly and legibly, even when I leave the cap off for a bit. I haven’t had a single issue of needing to grab a scrap paper to scribble furiously until the ink flows again like I do with other pens (including the uni-ball signos that currently reside in my office supply closet at work).

The Uni-ball Vision line is currently my favorite line of pens. I hadn’t even had a fave type of pen since high school.
